MINIMALISM…LESS IS MORE…..FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION…..INNOVATIONS ……MODERN TECHNIQUES……..

If you are associated with architecture than you must be familier with these phrases sometimes or even more often.The whole World is now covered with the so called ‘modern architecture‘. The innovative techniques advancements are done on the daily basis in the field of architecture.

But according to me the true meaning of Architecture lies in the way how we follow our own cultures and traditions.It does not depend on what we perform but how we perform our daily activities. The way how one lives their life and performs their activities by keeping their values and traditions as a North Pole.

Modern Architecture fits in all aspect of a good and civilised society but it cuts the people from their roots.(roots here means of one’s own identity , their culture ,tradition and their link to ancesters)The architecture moulds the human being.They live according to the way their spaces are organised and planned which ultimately decides what they do and how they do…?

It destroyed the real identity of the region and scripted the life of people in the same format.This is boring and has negative impacts for the long term.As architecture is all about the life and its relation with the human being.How one celebrates the built form.?Its a whole journey which includes the study of history and the adaptations along with time to live a more easy and efficient lifestyle.But the –

‘traditions and culture should always be the guiding light for the Architects ‘

all over the world.More we focus on our roots more we would be able to relate and connect to our ancestors.Also it would help us in getting the real meaning and purpose of life.

I’m not against the modern architecture besides I do like the principles and philosophy of it.But in the most important aspect like the preservation of identity it failed .This is the reason why we see the whole world is wearing the same mask of Glass, Steel and Concrete.We can’t relate any country by just seeing its building individually.

For example when we talk about the Greek and Roman than an image would flash in our minds of the orders of their columns like Doric ,Ionic and Corinthian. Similarly then we talk about any country the image got created in our minds.As a result of this the countries lost their uniqueness.

The Falling Water

By going through the one of the finest architect from the world and his master piece THE FALLING WATER( one of the heritage sites of the world being preserved since 1957) designed by Frank Lolyd Wright.The building opposes the modern architecture in the use of materials .This building is a retreat house itself .By the use of rocks and wood it opposes a modern architecture in a constructive way.

Now a days many architects lost their taste of using the natural materials or they don’t have developed it. The’ truth is that the great architects have made the best use of local materials and also they tried to find the best outfit for their projects ‘(means the materials for their projects).Which ultimately became their identity and their signature styles.

Thus there is a need to change the way we build. In order to preserve the identity and uniqueness of the people.If not taken care than the whole world will look similar.Their would be no distinction between the geographical areas on the basis of their traditions culture and values,which I personally think is important for the coming generations.
